VELUX relies on MERLIN

During wood processing constant climatic conditions are fundamental for guaranteeing the fulfilment of highest quality requirements. In the VELUX-plants in France and the Czech Republic humidification systems by MERLIN have met these requirements for years to full satisfaction. Now the MERLIN-specialists have also equipped the new VELUX-production facility in Hungary with four complete air humidification systems along with reverse osmosis water treatment systems >>.

„To make windows suitable for installation in the outdoor area, they not only need to be accurately processed, but also extremely dimensionally stable. This will only be achieved, if the equilibrium moisture content of wood is exactly suitable. 'During production this requires a constant relative air humidity of 60 percent' knows area sales manager Walter Laabmaier, who together with engineer Franz Schrems, the technical director of MERLIN, is responsible for the project management.

The VELUX-plant in Hungary comprises a production area of 10,000 m² and was equipped by MERLIN with more than 40 high-pressure humidification modules. The water quantity needed for that is supplied by a reverse osmosis system, installed in a pre-fabricated aluminium frame construction. Walter Laabmaier: 'The purchase decision did not only depend on the fulfilment of optimal hygiene and quality standards, but first of all on low operating costs and the effective deployment of resources.'
